Sometimes we forget how much God loves us, and hence the Lord’s table helps us remember His great love. I was thinking of the younger son who has been loved by the father. The new life that he now lives will be very different having tasted the love and grace of his father. He’ll live with a great sense of gratitude, and a new purpose in life – no longer thinking of his share of inheritance, but abiding in his father’s presence. I believe he’ll also see his older brother in a very different light – not just one of his father’s sons (as his older brother has once referred to), but as his brother. If we see one another as fellow brother and sisters in the Lord, we need to love them. For we don’t even love those in the same household of God, how can we love those who are lost… May the Lord have mercy on us.
